Turquoise Metallic Scarf

New Illustrated Items and Updates

I have been taking some of my artwork, and adding it to the site Society6 as posters, laptop skins, ipad skins, iphone skins and cases, stretched canvas artwork that you can hang, etc. It is part of an ongoing effort to design products, and is another step in that direction. They are for sale already, and are very high quality. The link to the “studio” (shop) is http://www.society6.com/studio/studiopop and my most recent additions are the iphone cases with the Circle Building Illustration on it, which I think look pretty snazzy in the sleek iPhone 4 Model. I have three Illustrations up so far. They will be familiar, as they have been ones that I have been receiving requests for for a while, and as always more is in the works. From now on, I will be adding new work here automatically for sale, and it’s addition will be more streamlined.

I kind of go back and forth between the knitting and illustration genres, so if I am not releasing work in one, it is just because I am finishing up work to release in the other. In knitting I also have some items I am on the cusp of putting up for sale, including a blanket and some metallic scarves. Blankets are huge projects in and of themselves, and this one is getting really close to being done. It will be the size of a twin sized bed when it is completed. (remember, the stitches are made one at a time, so it really does take a long time to make) I am really happy with how it is looking, and this yarn is already one of my favorites to work with.

Valentine’s Day Scarf

Fish Tank – Current Pic

Here is a current photo of my fish tank.
I have a Goldfish, and have tried, and given up on having live plants, but I still feel that I can make it look nice without them. (Goldfish are famous for tearing up live plants, and you really can’t put them in the tank with them, no matter how hard you try.) I used “Mexican River Rock” from The Home Depot for the “gravel” at the bottom, and did not put the smaller regular fish tank gravel in the bottom this time (I changed the set up a bit when I moved it into my room.) The tank, and my fish, are super relaxing to look at, and decorating it here and there makes me pretty happy.

Fish Tank <3

I posted some photos a while ago of the fish tank I was setting up. Here is a recent photo. (It is still a work in progress). The Easter Island statue is actually a cup that my mom found at a thrift store, lol. I wanted an easter island statue for the fish tank, and she happened to come across a cup of one. Why not? It still has the intended effect.

Tri-Color Stripey Scarf (remake)

When I made the first one I did not know how to keep it from curling, or even that it was something I had to prevent. Apparently I was also doing the knit stitch wrong, but never knew it. So here is a remake of my favorite colors together in a scarf, only the non-curling edition. Also this one is made of 100% wool, and is definitely warmer then the acrylic I used on the previous one.

It is up for sale on Etsy, for $30.

Fish Tank

More knitting, and illustration posts coming soon, but for now I wanted to post the mini project i am working on: setting up a fish tank.

here it is as it stands:

I still need to add some aquatic plants, they are benificial for fish, look better then plastic ones, and are actually pretty inexpensive. I am waiting the suggested week for my tank to be fully ready to add my fish.

I have three goldfish, and have been keeping fish for 8 years, now. I am moving them to this tank, from one that is 30 gallons it will be a 20 gallon difference for them, and I’m sure they will love the extra room.

Make Your Own Terrarium

I have been in to growing plants for a few years, now, and currently have an orchid, 3 different types of bromilliads (one being a pineapple plant- though you could consider it 2 plants by itself, because it has a pup (baby plant) that needs to be separated, from when it produced it’s first pineapple.), and a lawn (lol) that I have been working on improving. We also have a few other plants growing, but they were mostly planted when the house was built. I don’t really tend to them too much, though, I guess I should (I would rather have tropical plants, cause, face it, they are 10x as awesome)

I ran across some websties, and blogs that had some neat ideas for setting up a terrerium (think: plant aquarium). Some of them were rather simple, and others were works of art.

As I was cleaning out my garrage (which I am breaking into small pieces so it doesn’t become overwhelming), I found an old, large, glass jar (from pier one, I think) and I decided to try my hand at it.

My dad (he is in town at the moment) had taken down a small piece of spanish moss that was growing on our screen here, and I decided that’s what I would try to grow. It’s totally an experiment, but spanish moss grows locally, so the weather would be natural for it. I moved it outside, so it would get partial sunlight, misted it, and away we go.

My dad is also getting a medium sized planter for one of the small bromillieads, that is now 2-3x the size of the planter it is in. They kept telling me that they would bring me up a planter from Ft Lauderdale, and not to get one, but it never happened.

Knitting Machine

This is what my knitting machine looks like. I know it was made by Brother, and that the company does not make them anymore. They are still made by other companies, but can also be picked up “pre-owned”

Paraffin wax, is also apparently needed, to wax the yarn. It keeps static from building up, and everything working as it should. However, the mini block that is usually used with it was missing. I looked online, and found that a general block of paraffin wax can be used, which was admittedly still tough to find. I also heard that the wax needs to be undyed, so skateboard/surfboard wax is not what you should use (because of the dye).

A super-nice lady at Home Depot (the second store I tried) called around to a few stores in the area to finally locate it at ACE Hardware. They held it behind the counter, and I drove out there, happy to finally be able to find it. Mission Accomplished.

Mitered Blanket – Block 3

Upcoming Shows

Hey, Everyone.

I just wanted to let ppl know that I will be at two events this week, selling scarves and iPod/iPhone/electronic/etc. cosys. I will have a table set up at both Expo-Tees at the Social on Tuesday night (March 3rd, 9:oo pm-2:oo am), and at the Audubon Community Market (located in the Stardust/Bold Hype Parking Lot) on Wednesday night (March 4th, 7:oo pm – 11:oo pm). Come out and say “Hi”, and feel free to pick up a scarf if your neck gets chilly. They are all handmade, locally, with love, by yours truly. You will also get a sneak peek at one of my many works in progress. They always look better in person (and they feel much softer, too.)
